Happy Birthday, Yujia and Kirin!

Yujia's birthday was yesterday, and Kirin's is on Friday, so we celebrated their birthdays at our meeting tonight. Kirin and Lia made cupcakes for everyone and we also had a pile of strawberries and whipped cream. And, of course, the birthday song. =)  This was our last dorm meeting before break, if you can believe it! Happy end of mod to everyone!

Dance Concert!

Shari and Cheyenne both had choreography and danced in the dance concert, and they did an AMAZING job! And although Briana is in Costa Rica, there was a video of her dancing and performing poetry. Barnies Win Globe Scholastic Art Awards!

Students from the Cambridge School of Weston have been awarded a total of 45 awards for the 2011 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards competition. Julia was awarded a Gold Key for her portfolio in art and photo. Amy and Kirin were given the Gold Key for their individual artwork. Celebrating Birthdays and Valentine's Day!

It seems like every week, we have something to celebrate in our dorm! On Sunday, we celebrated birthdays for Lee, Kandice, and Mijia! And we continued our celebration of Black History Month. But we also celebrated Valentine's Day--with home-made chocolate fondue and lots of fun stuff for dipping! And then, on Monday, the guys in White Farm delivered a platter of hand-dipped chocolate covered strawberries in honor of V-Day. YAY White Farm!!! What a nice start to the week!

A Celebratory Monday

This week's dorm meeting was busy...we had a lot to celebrate! First, we celebrated Black History Month by sharing lots of fun, little-known facts and quotes related to Black history. Then, we celebrated the Lunar New Year! Cynthia and Yujia helped us decorate the dorm, and Lee made dumplings, and the dorm parents hid little red envelopes filled with money all over the dorm (as is tradition) for the students to find. =)

Then, we celebrated Shari's half-birthday, since her real birthday happens during summer while we are all gone.

Finally, we wished a hearty bon voyage to Tilly, Sarah H-F, Niko, and Briana, who are all leaving tomorrow for a mod in Costa Rica. We'll all be following along on their adventure through their course blog: http://www.cswoffcampus.net/

We celebrated with brownies, ice cream, chocolate covered pretzels, and juice boxes! =)

Winner Dinner!

We had our celebratory "Winner Dinner" for the Green Team, who graciously invited the Red Team (that came in second place) for dessert. The menu included crostini and bruscietta, crostini and smoked salmon with dill mustard sauce, and prosciutto wrapped melon for appetizers. The entree was steak cooked to order with Bernaise sauces, wasabi and garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, and dinner rolls. Dessert was Death by Chocolate and Mini Mocha Toffee Cheesecakes. mmmmm. Delicious. We had a nice, leisurely, two-hour meal with lots of laughter and chatting. YAY for the Green and Red teams!
